Since starting his landscape company in 2000, Bernie has had the opportunity to work with many of Melbourne’s well known and talented landscape designers/architects.
It was through working with landscape Architect Andrew Laidlaw on residential landscape projects and the Children’s Garden at the Royal Botanic Gardens that Bernie was introduced to Global Gardens of Peace in 2014. The Khan Younis garden in Gaza immediately captured Bernie’s interest and he knew that this was an extremely symbolic and powerful project.
As a father of two young children Bernie is aware of the importance of green space and outdoor play on children’s development and wellbeing.
Bernie joined the board to lend his skills and expertise in construction, planning, costing and project management and to assist with building a network of contacts. It’s Bernie’s wish, that through his role with Global Gardens that he can help to provide the benefits of natural outdoor green space to those children in the world who need it most.
